2 Kings 24:20 – Zedekiah, Judah’s Last King

 Following the first phase of the exile Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon chose Mattaniah, changed his name to Zedekiah, and made him King over Judah. He was to be Judah’s final King.

King of What’s Left

Neb’ told Zed’, “You’re the King of what’s left”.
But the deal soon developed a cleft.
When we read what God said,
it is obvious Zed
as God’s king was completely bereft.

“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD 1 Samuel 15:23, he has also rejected you from being king 2 Chronicles 36:13.” Today the obedient Christian submits to God’s authority 1 Peter 2:13-17.
