Hebrews 11:34 – Stronger When Opposed

The writer’s theme here is the superiority of faith as a way of life. He cites a long list of the faithful, most of whom faced fierce opposition, each of whom is remembered in this eleventh chapter of Hebrews.

Stronger When Opposed

Men and women, the heroes of faith
(each dependent on what the Lord saith)
stood for right against wrong,
out of weakness made strong,
as says motto of clan of Gal-braith*.

Hebrews 11:4-32
Hebrews 11:8
Hebrews 11:34
Again Hebrews 11:34

*The motto of the Scottish clan of Galbraith is ‘Ab Obice Saevior’ meaning “All the stronger when opposed 1 Peter 1:7 KJV”.

This is womderful. I am so glad I found this! This is such a great connection from the bible to our family motto that I can share with our 4 little boys. I homeschool and love to teach our boys to be proud of their family heritage. This is so perfect because we are also. christians and it is important for us to connect everything back to God in our teaching. I am so thankful to find this. Thank you for sharing!

  • Thanks for the comment. Pass it along to any other Galbreath’s you know.
