Leviticus 25:27 – Ruth, In Leviticus?

Israel’s kinsman/redeeemer law was important because it provided the legal ground for Boaz’ purchase of kinsman Elimelech’s land package, which included Ruth and Naomi, thereby preserving the line of Christ for you and me.

So Boaz became Ruth’s redeemer, preparing the way for Jesus to become our redeemer. Boaz got the land and the babe. We got Jesus.

The Babe* Ruth Trade

Farmer Boaz, near kin of Naomi,
bought Elimelech’s land, rich and loamy.
Ruth, though part of the swap,
was a mere whistle-stop
on God’s plan to make Jesus our homey.
